{"id":16185,"date":"2017-08-31T15:48:41","date_gmt":"2017-08-31T07:48:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mham.edu.ph\/wp\/mhammedicine\/?p=16185"},"modified":"2017-08-31T16:18:58","modified_gmt":"2017-08-31T08:18:58","slug":"mham-pursues-sustainable-excellence-in-teaching-with-maphed-enrollees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mham.edu.ph\/wp\/mhammedicine\/mham-pursues-sustainable-excellence-in-teaching-with-maphed-enrollees\/","title":{"rendered":"MHAM pursues sustainable excellence in teaching with MAHPEd enrollees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As MHAM pursues sustainable excellence and competence in teaching, a\u00a0Masteral Program of Master of Arts in Health Professions Education (MAHPEd) lecture was conducted to full time faculty members\u00a0at the MHAM AVR 5 last August 19, 2017.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16373\" style=\"width: 803px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16373\" class=\"wp-image-16373\" src=\"https:\/\/mham.edu.ph\/wp\/mhammedicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/edited2_1024x477-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"793\" height=\"369\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-16373\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The MHAM CM Masteral Program of Master of Arts in Health Professions Education (MAHPEd) faculty-enrollees<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nine\u00a0faculty-doctors who enrolled in the MAHPEd program attended the whole day lecture which centers on areas of development and delivery of various educational services in medical schools. Currently there are thirteen full time MHAM faculty-enrollees with weekly classes facilitated by Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan Graduate School.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-16374 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/mham.edu.ph\/wp\/mhammedicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/edited8_1024x337.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"804\" height=\"265\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16375\" style=\"width: 340px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16375\" class=\"wp-image-16375\" src=\"https:\/\/mham.edu.ph\/wp\/mhammedicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/edited9_813x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"330\" height=\"312\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-16375\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">MAHPEd energizer<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A graduate program under CHED&#8217;s Delivering Higher Educational Institution (DHEI) recognition, the weekly classes was\u00a0facilitated\u00a0by Xavier University professors, Dr. Agaton Panopio Jr. and Dr. Lourdes Tolod. The MAHPEd program envisions to further enhance \u00a0the teaching methodologies, coaching and evaluating techniques.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16189\" style=\"width: 699px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16189\" class=\"wp-image-16189\" src=\"https:\/\/mham.edu.ph\/wp\/mhammedicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/edited5-12.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"689\" height=\"318\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-16189\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">MAHPEd Program: Enhancing \u00a0the teaching methodologies, coaching and evaluating techniques<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_16376\" style=\"width: 332px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16376\" class=\"wp-image-16376\" src=\"https:\/\/mham.edu.ph\/wp\/mhammedicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/edited6_471x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"322\" height=\"525\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-16376\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">With the event-facilitator, Dr. Lourdes G. Tolod&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Dr. Lourdes Tolod who facilitated\u00a0the lecture, reaching the graduate level of education and completing it is the dream of those in the academe. In addition, it brings not only prestige but it also opens various opportunities to the graduate in terms of promotion and promise of a higher pay.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>&#8220;If you really want to go into the formal education system especially those who would like to teach in medicine, then your target is for the MA because CHED requires an MA degree for those who will teach in college and that makes the apex on it&#8221;, <\/em>said Dr. Tolod.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She also quoted CHED&#8217;s Memorandum Order 36 Series of 1998 that the MA program showcases the best of the academic and intellectual products and processes of the system.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As research\u00a0proposals are required to every enrollee before completing the 2-year duration, Dr. Tolod\u00a0thoroughly discussed the research process which emphasizes the development of generalizations, principles or theories that will be helpful in predicting future occurrences.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thus, like any other graduate school enrollee, these MHAM faculty-doctors are also\u00a0candidates for thesis defense for Masters in Professional Health Education. Dr. Tolod also stressed the\u00a0emphasis on the importance of research in any degree program.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16190\" style=\"width: 533px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16190\" class=\"wp-image-16190\" src=\"https:\/\/mham.edu.ph\/wp\/mhammedicine\/wp-content\/uploads\/edited1-13.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"523\" height=\"281\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-16190\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">MAHPEd Program: Pursuing sustainable excellence in teaching<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A\u00a0Cebuana by birth but has moved to\u00a0Cagayan de Oro City, this Xavier University professor was a former CHED supervisor and took the superintendent&#8217;s test and became at the School&#8217;s Division Superintendent in different parts of Region X. After her retirement in 2008 Xavier University took her in again\u00a0as the Dean of the School of Education for five years.
