Generosity is immeasurable, simply because WEAREMHAM…

The MHAM CM team had finally contributed its boxes of distilled water and other goods as donation through the ABS-CBN Cebu’s Lingkod Kapamilya Relief Campaign for Surigao earthquake victims last February 17, 2017 at the Fuente Osmeña Circle.

This, after Surigao del Norte was affected by the strong 6.7 magnitude quake on Friday, February 10, where family-survivors cannot function well and survive without a steady water supply for drinking and household needs.

Headed by Internal Affairs Director, Mr. Jarvis Prochina; Community Extension Services Office Director, Dr. Ma. Yvonne Lanuza; and Associate Dean, Dr. Allan Librando, the donation was successfully turned-over to the donation site with some of the Student Council officers, students and workers.

Day 2: MHAM’s positive response

As the government appealed for donations in kind and in cash coursed through government agencies and other organizations to take the lead in gathering the donations nationwide, the MHAM CM Community Extension Services Office took the lead in putting up a donation area inside the school premises.

Preferably on distilled water, students and employees corresponded with immediate and positive action as the donation area was filled with boxes of distilled water.

In an interview with MHAM CM Associate Dean, Dr. Allan Librando, there will be another batch of water donation to be given to the Lingkod Kapamilya as they are in need of drinking water immediately after the earthquake, as victims thirst for help.

Dr. Allan Librando: Potable water is exceedingly urgent for the quake victims

“We were able to donate several thousand bottles of mineral water donated by MHAM professors, faculties, administration, employees and Student Body for Surigao quake victims for their urgent need of clean, drinking water. The total lack of potable water due to the destructions of the water system brought about by the tremor was in urgency to respond and we are happy and thankful that we were able to contribute our part. Together, we were able to gather almost about five thousand bottles within the 3-day campaign which was gladly received by ABS-CBN’s Lingkod Kapamilya who spearheaded the Relief Operation”, said Dr. Librando.

This Associate Dean for five years now also added that the donation was being transported to Surigao the day after MHAM contributed its donation.

While the water system repairs cannot be completed at once, contingency plans were made to ensure that quake-torn Surigao will have water to drink and other uses. Thus, the water donation nationwide is a paramount support.

With MHAM CM Associate Dean, Dr. Allan Librando

Bridging between those who can help and those who need help due to natural calamities and manmade disasters, the Lingkod Kapamilya showcased the out-pouring generosity of government and private agencies in the country. Needless to say, MHAM’s donation was gladly-received.

Where solidarity begins: At the MHAM CM donation area

In the midst of suffering and desolation among quake victims and survivors, the MHAM CM’s contribution was part of the unceasing services to the least of society particularly in Surigao. Its positive and undeniably ceaseless response is driven by MHAM’s legacy in reaching out to the neighboring communities to deliver the message of hope and compassion to humanity during tragic times. Such contribution can become a great comfort with fervent prayers that Surigao will rise again. (Ana Liza Abao)
