MHAM CM Class of 1983 visits Alma Mater

Having been celebrated their 34th grand reunion as MHAM CM graduates, the class of 1983 paid tribute to their Alma Mater by visiting the school campus at the Redemptorist Plaza last July 25, 2017 in the afternoon.

Led by the MHAM CM Vice-President for Academics, Dr. Arlene M. Diaz, forty alumni members from batch ’83 invaded the school campus as they looked back their remarkable student days way back in the 80’s.

Welcome back, Batch ’83!

Celebrating their grand anniversary in a 2-day gathering of friendship and beyond, the class of 1983 who came from the different parts of the country and abroad such as Canada, Thailand, California, Pennsylvania, Texas and New York, reunited once again with their professors who are still teaching at present.

Keeping the old days with notable memories as MHAM graduates, the group was notably received by the faculty members led by MHAM CM College Dean, Dr. Ma. Having been presented with the MHAM hymn and an audio-visual presentation, the class of 1983 also revived their identity as MHAM former students through come back conversations and fellowship with the doctor-professors who were present.

As one of the batch ’83 graduates, Dr. Arlene Diaz, who is now the Vice-President for Academics, gave an update to her batchmates on how MHAM worked to be on its own since it has separated from the main SWU campus and has become the rightful owner of the CHED’s official grantee of permit to operate a medical school.

In an interview with Dr. Edgar A. Nadal who is practicing Pathology in Iligan City, he is looking forward to be part of the Grand Alumni Homecoming in 2020.

“After thirty-four years we are here together as a batch and it is worth remembering as we look back our student days in MHAM. Our fellowship and connectivity will always be worthwhile while seeing again our previous professors after how many years means reliving and reviving our identity as MHAM graduates”, said Dr. Nadal who is now assigned in the hospital administration at the Adventist Medical Center in Iligan City.

Currently, two of his children are also following their parents’ path as they embark into medical studies as MHAM freshmen students. Dr. Nadal’s better half is also a MHAM graduate.

Meanwhile, Dr. Raul Ceniza from Cagayan de Oro City also expressed his sentiments for having been attended this year’s homecoming. Practicing Integrative Medicine for ten years now, he also owns the Greatlab Polyclinic and Diagnostic Center in Lifestyle District, Cagayan de Oro City. This batch ’83 MHAM product also took pride for having a product of his own known as “Zing”, which is available in his own clinic.

“This reunion is also a way of getting to know each other again because we are not getting any younger again. It is good to see everyone after how many years and I look forward to be present again next year”, said Dr. Ceniza in an interview.

Moreover, to support some deserving students in realizing their dreams, MHAM took pride in offering a full scholarship grant to students who are commendable upon evaluation. In relevance of its school visit, three students who became the recipients of the founders’ academic scholarship grant were being presented before the group as the school is in its continuous search for sponsors for the scholarship grant.

Thus, junior clerks Mark Joseph Villo and Daniel John Bokingo and sophomore student, Irish Lontoc presented themselves before the class of 1983 who also have the same dreams and goals way back in their student days.

In response to the call and in no delay, the class of 1983 were able to raise Php 210,000 to support the MHAM CM academic scholars. At present, nineteen freshmen scholars are enjoying the full scholarship grant after thorough evaluation.

In pursuit to gaining participants to the Grand Alumni Homecoming, the batch ’83 was also invited as the Office for Alumni Relations and Services in collaboration with the MHAM Alumni Association Inc. is on the road to host the Grand Alumni Homecoming with proposed activities and significant events.

Reminiscing the MHAMemories

Bringing home the remarkable memories to behold as MHAM products wherever they may be, they are also looking forward to attend the Grand Alumni Homecoming on May 26, 2020 on the occasion of the 50 golden years of growing from within. (Ana Liza Abao)
