In its continuous effort to seek ways and means in order to expand the quality services to the needs of times, the MHAM CM Multipurpose Cooperative is soon to open a One Shop Stop Remittance Center for more sustainable multi-financial services as its mission.

One Shop Stop Center: Soon to be at the MHAM CM Multipurpose Cooperative

This has been divulged by the new Chairman of the MHAM CM Multipurpose Cooperative, Mr. Pedro Pañares, who relentlessly accepted the challenge after having been elected and inducted to run and administer the cooperative for the mutual benefit of its members, alumni and students.

“As our application with the Unified Products and Services has been processed already hopefully we will have the Launching Ceremony next week. With the services that we will soon be offering, we will become an e-Cash Paying Center here in MHAM not only for the coop members but also for the students and our alumni”, said Mr. Pañares in an interview.

According to Mr. Pañares who is also the MHAM CM Human Resource Director that the Unified Products and Services, Inc. is a Manila-based One Shop Stop remittance center which caters four major services, namely; remittance or e-Cash, bills payments, ticketing and E-loading.

“This is one of the major endeavors that the new set of board of directors and its officers are striving to achieve inclusive development to all”, he added.

In addition, the remittance, bills payment, ticketing and electronic loading services will soon be available at the Multipurpose Cooperative office from 8:00 in the morning until 5:00 in the afternoon.

So far, the M Lhuillier, Cebuana Lhuillier, MoneyGram, IRemit and Xoom are the tie-up partners for the remittance services while Palawan Express Pera Padala is still being processed.

The Third Party Liability (TPL) insurance can also be issued at the One Shop Stop center while the ticketing caters both local and international shipping and airline fees.

The services for electronic or universal loading caters regular, special and international cellular load for smart, globe and sun users.

During the faculty and non-teaching staff meeting which was held last month, two staff from the Unified Products and Services Cebu branch went to MHAM for their products and services presentation. Established in 2011, the phenomenal growth of the company has paved its way to shift to an independent multi-level marketing company with technology-based services.

Meanwhile the MHAM CM Multipurpose Cooperative Gen. Manager-Management Staff, Mr. Jarvis Prochina, also presented a proposal for the new policies and guidelines for the coop members. As proposed, only the qualified full-pledged member of good standing can avail of the maximum credit privilege of the cooperative such that one has completed the pre-membership education seminar, has paid the required membership fees, dues and share capital contribution, has passed the probationary period of three months from the date of membership and has attained the minimum share-capital contribution of Php 5,000.

In strengthening the cooperative’s movement for the benefit of the needs of the members and their families in the next decade, Mr. Pañares also reiterated that with the new board of directors, the proposed policies and guidelines will uplift the lives of its members together with its quality services particularly with the One Shop Stop center. Moreover, these services will also help to instill the minds of the members that a cooperative should start to achieve its main objective which is the social needs of the members rather than the economic needs as restructured and amended by law. Inheriting ‘bad debts’ from members who are no longer connected with the cooperative is one of the issues that the coop is trying to diverge at present.

“We have noticed that the main service that the coop is offering to the members is only the credit system so we have deviated such and we would like to instill into their minds that the cooperative does not only exist just for the loan purposes but it should be on savings and more on uplifting the lives of the members”, he concluded.

As the MHAM CM Multipurpose Cooperative was initiated with a mission to sustain as a cornerstone of its multi-financial services, it became operational on December 13, 2012 with ninety-eight members at present. With the new set of board of directors, to date, they are challenge to perform their duties and functions with the hope that each will become strength for one another for the benefit of all the members. (Ana Liza Abao)
