A board certified and specializes in Geriatric Medicine (Internal Medicine) in Montclair, New Jersey, USA, Dr. Diano is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area. Having been completed his residency at Mount Sinai Medical School in Internal Medicine, this MHAM alumnus is one of the thirteen doctors at Bayonne Medical Center and one of the nine at Hackensack University Medical Center Mountainside who specialize in Geriatrics.

Looking back, he used to desire to become a doctor when he was still a kid. Had it not been on scholarship grants, he might not be able to continue his studies due to lack of resources and financial constraints. Today, his seventeen years of practice as a geriatrician in the United States is a living proof that what he sowed is what he reaped.

Interview with the MHAM CM alumnus, Dr. Rowen Diano…

“You are in this profession and why did you choose to become doctors? What’s in this profession? Is it because of human care or the vision of more monetary gain? Since the olden times, we doctors are very peculiar and as time has passed by, we doctors killed more people than we healed them”, said Dr. Diano to the MHAM aspiring doctors.

Having been resided in the United States together with his family, this MHAM CM graduate shared his valuable insights especially in valuing human care above all else in the medical practices.

“I am very happy today for being with the medical students. I owed it to the school and it is good to give back in some way or another to my Alma Mater”, said Dr. Diano in an interview.

He also added that doctors, as respected by the populace, should look for the highlights where diagnosis must be taken favorably.

Well-determined to achieve his goals for a fulfilling life in the medical field, Mark Anthony Cabanig became more adamant to pursue his childhood dream. This 24-year old aspiring doctor who is aiming to become an internist in the future was among the junior student-listeners during the event.

“Medicine is not about curing someone’s illness, rather, it is about keeping others well. Thus, doctors should value human care with a heart, rooted from this noble profession”, said Cabanig who was born and raised in Talisay City, Cebu.

Junior student, Val Acosta, during the event

Meanwhile, 23-year old junior student, Val Acosta, also shared his sentiments after having been challenged by the resource speaker.

“Destined to be healers and God’s instruments for healing, doctors are the modern day interpretation of the profession that made us doctor in medicine. Today, I realized that in the coarse of time, doctors make enemies that are worst than man, as doctors killed more people than cured them”, said this soon-to-be-doctor from Cagayan de Oro City.

At present, there are three hundred seven third year students who are looking forward to become the instruments of healing with a vision to put into practice what human care is all about.

In recognition of his expertise and the learnings he had inculcated to the students, Dr. Diano received a certificate of appreciation in behalf of the school management.

As a MHAM graduate, he is always grateful for what he had become and will continue to give back to his Alma Mater by sharing his innate and acquired knowledge to all medical students who are aspiring to become mavens of the field.
