WEAREMHAM: Class of 1973 Alumni Homecoming
The MHAM CM Class of 1973 recently held its Alumni Homecoming at the Quest Hotel, Cebu City, last June 10, 2017 from 7:00 to 11:00 in the evening, marking its 44th year of friendship and comradeship.

Reunited again after 44 years
Led and organized by MHAM alumnus and now the Associate Dean for Basic Sciences, Dr. Allan Librando, the batch ’73 MHAM graduates revived their identity as MHAM products with a “Summer Soiree sa Sugbu” theme. They rekindled their closeness in a 3-day togetherness by reminiscing their students days and visiting popular places in the province of Cebu.

Well accommodated with the MHAM coaster, the 3-day celebration with MHAM senior-doctors was well-spent to their itinerary which includes the Monastery of the Holy Eucharist in Simala Sibonga, Cebu. They also went to Dr. Domosoylo’s residence in Toledo for a fiesta lunch and proceeded to Tuburan for an overnight stay at Dr. Jesudason’s residence.

With Dr. Gerome Domosoylo…
According to Dr. Gerome Domosoylo, who was the Anatomy instructor back then, the class ’73 graduates were noted with its closeness as a batch, way back 44 years ago.
“This batch as far as I remember has been known as jolly, friendly, respectful and their closeness was indeed admirably remembered. Tonight, after 44 long years, they reunite once again and still possessed the same attributes although physically they have changed. This gathering is very significant as they can look back across the years when they were still classmates with such remarkable relationship”, said Dr. Domosoylo.
Prior to the 3-day get-togetherness, the previous plan of holding the reunion at Dumaguete City was cancelled due to security concerns. Part of their itinerary was to go to Kawasan Falls in Badian to Sirao Flower Farms and the Temple of Leah.

A night to remember with their favorite cha-cha moves…
On the other hand, US-based alumna, Dr. Fe Edillon Jesudason, shared her joyous moments as she delightfully co-organized the homecoming events with great preparation and dedication.

“We have been planning this homecoming after 44 years as we separate ways from different places and status in life. Right after graduation we were so occupied with our profession and most of us are now retired from work. We may have changed with our physical look but our spirit as batchmates are still alive and active. Actually, I took my residency training in the country until I went abroad and met my Indian husband in the US. We decided to reside there for good with four children and though I did not practice my profession but I was just fortunate to find a job which is related to my field”, said Dr. Jesudason.
68-year old Dr. Jesudason was also working in Nigeria from 1977 to 1985 before she migrated to the US. She used to come home to the Philippines every year and the reunion was one of her toplists this year. “I always take pride of being a MHAM product wherever I may be”, she concluded.

MHAM alumnus-faculty Dr. Elizier L. Ligo: Reminiscing the past to the future

Event-host Dr. Allan Librando
Event-host and main organizer Dr. Allan Librando, gave them updates of how MHAM continued to soar towards academic excellence especially in producing board topnotchers for three consecutive years.
In addition, he also shared that MHAM has been rebuilt on its own since its separation from the main SWU campus four years ago. Today, MHAM fulfills the vision of its founder with proactive approach in acknowledging diversity among students from the different parts of the globe.
Moreover, as Dr. Librando also addressed the concern to his batchmates that the school is currently looking for possible sponsors for the academic scholarship grant to deserving students. In no delay, twenty-two doctors have contributed an amount as a group which will be used for the deserving MHAM student-scholars.
An AVP was presented to them along with the MHAM Hymn. They ended the night with fun and camaraderie as they look forward to see each other again on May 2020 as their Alma Mater is on the road to host the Grand Alumni Homecoming with 5O golden years of growing from within. (Ana Liza Abao)
