
Celebrating life to its fullest with MHAM successor-educator, Mrs. Elma Aznar-Sierra
An Annual Dinner was held at the Casino Español, Cebu City last March 18, 2017 from 7:00 to 10:00 in the evening, marking the significance for another year of grace and for the gift of life of MHAM successor-educator, Mrs. Elma Aznar-Sierra.

Through thick and thin, we stick together, simply because we are MHAM family…
Gracing this year’s birthday celebration were the Aznar-Sierra family, members of the Board of Trustees, guests, management committee, consultants, administration, department chairmen, department heads and some non-teaching employees.

The newly-appointed College Dean, Dr. Ma. Socorro Manaloto in her welcome remarks…
In her welcome remarks, the newly-appointed College Dean, Dr. Ma. Socorro Manaloto expressed her felicitations for the President and Chairman of the Board, a celebration of life to its fullest.
A strenuous and creative video presentation from the Student Body as a befitting gift for the celebrant was also shown, adding more flavors on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Associate Dean, Dr. Allan Librando ackowledged the presence of all the invited guests and employees who made the occasion more remarkable.
Among the invited guests were CHED VII Director Dr. Freddie Bernal, CHED Supervisor Dr. Carlyn dela Peña, Mr. Salvatore Peter La Barbera, Dr./Atty. Marc Phua, Atty. Fillmore Gomos, Arch. Manuel Guanzon, Dr. Bryan Tang and Mrs. Vilma Ojano.

A night to remember with the MHAM family and invited guests…

Guest lecturer, Dr./Atty. Marc Phua…
“It is a profound pleasure and a huge honor to be present in a very important occasion such as the birthday of Ma’am Elma Sierra. It’s not everyday that anybody gets invited to her birthday and it is even an honor because we have been asked to present an innovation that shows how significant these things are for her”, said Dr. Phua in an interview.
In addition, one of the highlights of the celebration was the lecture given by Mr. Salvatore Peter La Barbera and Dr. Marc Phua, who introduced a therapeutic innovative device and known to be as the latest intravenous light therapy for infammation abatement.
In response to the lectures given by Mr. La Barbera and Dr. Phua towards treatment innovation, a well-prepared message which was supposed to be delivered by the birthday celebrant was being relayed by the event host, MHAM HR Director, Mr. Pedro Pañares.

One mission, one family…
“Let me thank you for accepting our invitation for today and let me take this opportunity to personally thank you for sharing your valuable ideas and expertise, and congratulations to the new device that you have introduced to us. We welcome this new technology with appreciation because it does not only contribute to clinical advancement but also offers innovative healthcare treatment system with therapy for people suffering from surgical pain. Pains are inevitable and so science aims to pursue discoveries that will make our life better and less painful. In all of these, we always go back to our mission, to nurture and to produce compassionate, competent and committed physicians”, a response message from Mrs. Sierra which was delivered by the event host.

Guest lecturers of the night…
The heart warming message was made in line with the new medical device presented by the two lecturers of the night, allowing the MHAM faculty-doctors to interact about the new and non-surgical innovation. As introduced by the newly-appointed VP Academics, Dr. Arlene Diaz, Mr. La Barbera is the founder and CEO of Terracommercial Real State Corporation in California, USA with five award winning projects in California and Hawaii. A BS Mathematics Computer Science and Psychology graduate, this guest-lecturer presented before the audience a CE-marked UVLrx Model UVL1500 machine, which offers the first intravenous, concurrent delivery of ultraviolet-A and multiple visible light wavelengths. This technological breakthrough called, UVLrx, is an essential adjunct therapy used by physicians, practicing aesthetics and anti-aging medicine.

The Annual Dinner completed its significance as Mr. Pañares delivered the message from the President.
“I would like to thank my MHAM family. Truly, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Thank you for being tough in your commitment to the school, for believing in me, for dreaming my dreams and for being the source of my inspiration and strength. Congratulations for producing a topnotcher again, Dr. Maude Sang-an Tabigue, 4th place in the March 2017 Physician Licensure Examination. To my family especially to my loving husband and children, thank you for your love and support you have given me. The last but most important thing, I thank the Lord for the privilege of this life and for giving me the chance to serve Him through this institution. To all of you, may the blessings I receive every day, abounds to every corner of your lives and your families”.

Aznar Memorial College of Medicine, Inc., Mrs. Sierra as an educator is impelled to keep her ancestors’ vision to reach out to the Filipino masses by providing a quality education where today, MHAM has become the home of medical achievers, proven and tested for years.

Today, the Sierra couple is among the countless flourishing businessmen in the country as this time, they built an eco-friendly seven-storey hotel in the very heart of downtown Dumaguete’s main business and shopping district.
